Yvonne Atkins Bennett

Yvonne Atkins Bennett, age 83 of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away at her home on Friday, October 27, 2023.

She was born on January 6, 1940 in Chesnee, SC to the late J.R. Atkins and the late Gatha Robbins Atkins. Yvonne was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; but she was also so much more. In the early years of her life, she found her soulmate, Boyd, and they began a legacy of quiet devotion to God, each other, and their family. She raised a strong daughter and son who raised families of their own. She was passionate about her family and loved supporting her grandchildren from the sidelines of their sporting events and in the audience of their plays and chorus concerts. She had a spontaneous spirit that would have her deciding the day-of to travel to another state, get lost, lose track of time, and stumble across something amazing. She also enjoyed the simple things in life like; gardening, cooking and various needlework and embroidery projects. She was an endlessly faithful woman-faithful to God, her church, her family and her friends. Her sweet soul touched many lives and will continue to for generations to come. Yvonne Bennett leaves behind family and friends that will miss her dearly, but will always treasure her memory.

She is survived by daughter, Melita Bennett Ward; son, Boyd Darren Bennett and his wife, Ranail; grandchildren, Morgan Ward, Kaitlyn Ward, Shelby Ward Perkins and her husband, Ryley, Halie Bennett, Gracen Bennett, and Kyndal Bennett; and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Boyd Bennett; brothers, Donald Atkins and James Roy Atkins, and grandson, Hunter Bennett.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Casey Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Lyda officiating. Interment will follow at The View Church cemetery.
