Walter "Maurice" Hall

Walter "Maurice" Hall, (73) of Roebuck, SC passed away, with family by his side, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 following a brief illness and hospitalization.

Maurice was born on August 13, 1949 to Catherine Louise Evans Hall and Walter Forrest Hall in Marion, NC. Maurice was loved by many. He never met a stranger and was kind to anyone with whom he interacted.  He became an Eagle Scout as a young boy and was active in the Boy Scouts Foothills Council with his son. Maurice remained active in the Boy Scouts for many years, serving as Scout Master of Troop 700 in Simpsonville, SC. He acquired many badges and won several awards for his contributions to the organization. After he no longer served as troop leader, he joined the leadership team, also with the Foothills Council. He was a member of the Marion Moose Lodge and was a lifelong, faithful blood donor. Along with his children, Maurice spent summers volunteering for Salkehatchie Summer Service, an outreach program of the South Carolina United Methodist Church, offering his expertise from many years in the building industry to improve the homes and lives of deserving families across South Carolina.

Maurice was a faithful follower of Jesus and raised his four children at Simpsonville United Methodist Church in Simpsonville, SC.  There he served in many roles and was active in the men's ministry.  In his later years, he returned to the Baptist faith and continued to be a dedicated servant.  True to his giving nature, he continues to bless people with the gift of organ and tissue donation.  He was welcomed at the heavenly gates into the loving arms of Jesus, which gives his family comfort and peace.

Maurice is survived by four children, Jamie Morehead (Duane) of Chesnee, SC; Amy Dishner of Simpsonville, SC; Benjamin Hall (Tighe) of Salida, CO; and Beth Bryant of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by a sister, Carolyn Hall of Marion, NC; two nieces; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was predeceased by his parents, Louise and Forrest Hall.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Mobile Meals of Spartanburg for their daily delivery of meals and encouragement.  Additionally, their gratitude extends to the staff of Spartanburg Rehabilitative Institute for their kindness and compassionate care during his brief illness.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00am at View Church, 5555 Parris Bridge Rd, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00am. Flowers are welcome and may be sent to Eggers Funeral Home, 815 South Alabama Avenue, Chesnee, SC 29323, or memorials may be made in Maurice's memory to Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, 419 E Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
