Vernon Eugene Rowe, Jr.

Mr. Vernon Eugene Rowe, Jr., age 72, loving husband of Winona Jolley Rowe, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Cherokee Medical Center.

Mr. Rowe was born September 27, 1951, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, a son of the late Vernon Eugene Rowe, Sr. and Eva Louise Kimbrell Rowe.

He was a member of Arrowood Baptist Church and was the owner of Rowe Tree Service, as well as a cattle farmer.  Mr. Rowe was a retired firefighter and had served as the Assistant Chief of Chesnee Community Volunteer Fire Department.  He was also a member of Chesnee Community Rescue Squad #7 where he served as Captain.  Mr. Rowe loved his family, and his grandchildren were his joy.  He especially enjoyed hunting with his grandsons and riding the grandchildren on his farm equipment.  Mr. Rowe will be remembered for the passion he had for helping others.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Rowe is survived by daughters, Amanda E. Rowe, Kacee R. Godfrey, and Megan J. Rowe (Matt); sisters, Gail R. Williams, Margaret R. Lawter (Ricky), Lillian Blackwell, Shirley Edwards (Carey); brother, Harold Rowe (Myra); and grandchildren, D.J. Mills, Ethan Rowe Wall, Faith Wall, Gage Godfrey, Kallen Godfrey, Laney Rowe, Mallory Rowe, and Jeremiah.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Rowe; son-in-law, Chuck McGraw; and brother-in-law, Denny Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Arrowood Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chris Gray and Rev. Bruce Jennings, Mr. Mikey Gabriel and Mr. Matthew Scruggs. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Travis Roddy, Brandon Rowe, Tyler Stevens, Zackery Rowe-Palmer, Matt Williams, and Jordan Lawter.  Members of the Chesnee Community Volunteer Fire Department, are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers along with Joel Brannon, David Crain, Mikey Gabriel, and Derek Atkins.

The family will receive friends at Arrowwood Baptist Church from 12:00PM to 2:00PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arrowwood Baptist Church (children's program or youth group) 1410 SC-11, Chesnee, SC 29232.

The family will be at the home.
