Thomas Lamar Hall

Mr. Thomas Lamar Hall, 79, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, left his earthly body and went home to the shores of heaven on Monday, July 7, 2026.

Born in Fingerville, South Carolina on March 18, 1947, Mr. Hall was a son of the late Thomas Earl and Elsie Elizabeth Pike Hall. He was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and earned an Associate Degree in Automotive Engineering. Thomas retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and also proudly served as a Sergeant with the North Spartanburg Fire Department. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he honorably served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Thomas will be remembered as a hardworking and dedicated man who spent his life serving others. Whether through his military service, his career on the railroad, or his commitment to the fire department, he lived a life of duty and devotion. He loved spending time at the beach, where he could often be found swimming and relaxing in his trademark cut-off blue jean shorts. He and Mary also shared a love of shag dancing and treasured the memories they made together. He also found great joy in the outdoors, whether casting a line or working in his garden.  He was always sharing the bounty of his garden with others. His greatest joy, however, was his family and the time they spent together.

Left to cherish his memory are: his daughters, Jennifer Hall Woolen (Phillip) and Heather Hall Gurowski (Alex); his sister, Joyce H. Polmateer; grandchildren, Blake Woolen (Sarah), Mindy Scott (Bobby), Savannah Caitlin Laney (Nik), Thomas Gurowski, Jonathan Gurowski, Brandon Gurowski, Dylan Gurowski, Matthew Gurowski, Gabriella Gurowski, Elisabeth McCarter, Aiden Bryant and Andrew Bryant; great-grandchildren, Oliver Laney, Liam Laney, Kade Scott, Julianna Scott and Madison Woolen.

Also surviving are his stepchildren, Susan Tate (Rick), Maryann Moon (Scott) and Tim Padgett (Sharon); step-grandchildren, Drew Padgett, Haley Bagwell (Matthew), Macy Tate, Jonathan Tate, Will Moon and Marly Moon; and step-great-grandchildren, Everett Bagwell and Sawyer Bagwell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Ethel Heatherly Hall; daughter, Jessica Joy Hall; his second wife, Mary Padgett Hall, who passed away last July; and his brothers, Marshall Hall, Carol Hall and Donald Pike.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home with the Rev. Monty King officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Thomas Gurowski, Oliver Laney, Jonathan Gurowski, Brandon Gurowski, Dylan Gurowski, and Blake Woolen.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Jennifer H. Woolen.
