Thomas Earl Deviney

Thomas Earl Deviney, age 90 of Forest City, NC, passed away July 5, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 4, 1936 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Noah Odell Deviney and the late Florence Elizabeth Murray Deviney. Tom was a US Army veteran.

Tom is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Deviney, his children; Sandy Sanders (James), Patty Bond (Mel), Karen Deviney and Tommy Deviney, siblings; Andy Deviney (Jan), Wayne Deviney (Sweet Pea) and Margie Hoyle. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister Ellen Bradley.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of Veterans Affairs and Hospice of Rutherford County for all the assistance, understanding and love during our time of need.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC. The memorial service will follow at 2:00pm in The A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC with Reverend Wayne Toney and James Sanders officiating. Military honors will follow and be given by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC is serving the family.
