Teddy Rex Burnett

Teddy Rex Burnett, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

Mr. Burnett was born on December 14, 1936, in Pineville, Missouri, son of the late Mrs. Ruth Bosarde Burnett and Mr. Chester M. Burnett. He grew up working on the family farm then enlisted in the Navy after graduating from high school. He began his professional career with Sears Roebuck in Norfolk, Virginia after that. Years later he decided to change careers and become an insurance agent with Prudential Insurance, where he worked until he retired.

He was an active member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, where he faithfully attended and served in many roles. He was a Master Mason and was a dual member of Bayside Lodge #218 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Boiling Springs Lodge #413 in Boiling Springs, South Carolina. He loved working in his garden and taking care of his home. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Western novels. He helped his neighbors and enjoyed a good sense of humor.

Mr. Burnett's legacy will be remembered as a family man. He loved his mother and father and his siblings and their families. He was a loving patriarch to his own family, which included children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren from two marriages. His entire family became more important to him as he grew older.

Left to cherish Teddy's memory are his son, W. Kirby Burnett (Karen Brentnell) of Greenville, South Carolina, daughter, Angela Vaughn Carter of North Andover, Massachusetts, sister, Patricia Anderson (John) of Blue Springs, Missouri, and brother, Bill Burnett (Vicki), of Goshen, Indiana; grandchildren, Ashley M. White (Tim) and Colton G. Sears; and great-grandchildren, Luca White and Raina Cataldo. Also left to cherish Teddy's memory are his step-children, Judy Levy (Howard) of Naples, Florida; Susan Kress of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jayne Morrison (Wayne) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Joe R. Mikels of Mayo, South Carolina; step-grandchildren, Jessica Levy, Alison Levy, Melissa Kress, Steven Kress, and Daniel Mikels (Jacilyn); and step-great grandchildren, Taylor Mikels and Tory Mikels. Lastly, although no longer married, also left to cherish his memory is Paula Mikels-Burnett of Spartanburg, South Carolina, to whom Teddy was devoted.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burnett was predeceased by his son, Bruce Ashley Burnett, sisters, Wilma Jean Scott, Helen Mae Naab, and June Rose Burnett, and brothers, Raburn Avon Burnett, Carl Lloyd Burnett, Orland Eul Burnett, and Marvin Burnett.

A memorial service officiated by Rev. Dave Rodrick will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Boiling Springs, South Carolina.

Interment will follow at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs, South Carolina.
