Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of Susan Faye Hicks, who left this world too soon on Sunday, November 9, 2025. There are no perfect words to describe the life and love of someone who meant the world to so many. Her loving family surrounded her as she passed at home after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Susan was born in Spartanburg, SC, on June 26, 1966, to the late Johnson Palmer Teague and Beulah Edge Teague. Her brother, Roy "Rocky" Teague, and her sister, Wanda Teague Foster, survive her, along with her loving husband, Steve, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was a devoted lifelong member of Fairforest Church of God in Spartanburg, where she faithfully served as a pillar of strength to God, reflecting her unwavering faith. She found joy in prayer and strength in scripture. It's calming to know she is at peace with God and her loving parents.
She graduated from the University of South Carolina/ Upstate with a degree in Political Science, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1988. She was employed briefly with Multi-Cinema and then spent her career with the state and county offices of Spartanburg.
She was a delight to be around, bringing her joyful spirit wherever she went. She was an avid reader of spiritual, historical, and biographical works. She loved to write in her journal nightly to document her thoughts and life experiences.
Susan loved to walk and be close to nature, as she loved both the ocean and mountain trips. She also loved walking the malls, shopping for clothes, and trying to help whenever it was needed. All will sorely miss her!
Heartfelt gratitude is offered to Spartanburg Regional Hospital and Agape Care of Landrum for their tireless efforts to make Susan comfortable during her final days on earth.
Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 17, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at Eggers Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Petty and Rev. Chris Kilgore officiating. Committal will be at Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
