Spurgeon James Williams

Spurgeon James Williams, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Frank S. Williams and Amelia Emory Williams. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Williams worked at Spartanburg Water System for 38 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Owens and Frankie Ivey.

Spurgeon is survived by his loving wife, Gayle Williams; daughter, Heather Elizabeth Williams (Landon); son, Matthew James Williams (Candice); brother, Bobby Lee Williams (Peggy); two grandchildren, Bailey Cantrell (Tanner) and Negan Dill; and three great-grandchildren, Tailey Cantrell, Presley Cantrell and Meredith Cantrell.

A private service will be held at a later date.
