Shirley Ann Crompton

Mrs. Shirley Ann Crompton, age 81, loving wife of Jeff Crompton, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at her home.

Mrs. Crompton was born February 18, 1943, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Woodrow Wykel and Gladys Willis Wykel.  She graduated from Robinson's Business College, and retired as branch manager from Bank of America after 42 years of service.  She served as the president of the Credit Union Ladies Group.  After retirement she continued to work as the secretary at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member.  She also taught Sunday School class there for fifty years.  She and her husband, Jeff, were active with the senior group of the church and served on many mission trips.  She stayed active as long as her health allowed and enjoyed going to Zumba classes.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, she is survived by daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Gardner, and husband, Glenn; brother, Don Wykel, and wife, June; sister-in-law, Belinda Guffy, and husband, Steve, and brother-in-law, David Crompton, and wife, Naomi.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, September 16, 2024, at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Ronnie Norris, and the Reverend Danny Garrett officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday at the church from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
