Sarah Elizabeth “Liz” Erikson, 27, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Born September 4, 1999, in Shelby, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Peter James Erikson and Megan Elizabeth Hare Erikson. Liz was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and worked as a machine operator at ES Foundry in Greenwood.
Liz was generous, outgoing, and empathetic – to both people and animals. She was always willing to do things for, and give things to, others – whether family, friends, or strangers – especially those in need. She loved the outdoors, animals, and her beloved dog, Blue, and held dear the memory of her dogs, Maya, Marcey, and Bear. Her favorite colors were “cardboard box" brown and purple. A talented and creative spirit, she could play nearly any stringed instrument, including the acoustic & electric guitar and the ukulele. She was an extremely gifted artist. She loved to draw, paint, and sculpt. She loved to tinker and to reuse items. Nothing was "junk" to her - even being known to craft instruments from salvage parts with artistic flair. Liz was known for gifting sketches at random – from charcoal to watercolor to pencil, on anything from acid-free paper to napkins (for restaurant waitstaff!). She loved to laugh, especially at her favorite movies, shows, cartoons, and stand-up comedians. When Liz smiled, she did it with her whole face. In the last months of her life, Liz experienced success after success, encouraged by and encouraging everyone in her life. She was optimistic and forward-thinking, celebrating life – including that of her brand-new nephew Theo, who made her proud to add another name to her long list, this one the unconventional “Unt” Liz.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brothers, Matthew James Erikson, and his wife, Cheyenne Paige Erikson, of Tampa, Florida, Andrew Jacob Erikson, and his wife, Madison Miller Erikson of Spartanburg, and Noah John Erikson of Los Angeles, California; her paternal grandparents, Arthur Joel and Corinne Esther Erikson; her maternal grandmother, Bonnie Jean Hare; her nephew, Theodore Thomas Erikson; and her fiancé, Mika Nesbitt.
She is also survived by aunts and uncles, David Hare, and wife, Laurie, Emily Holland and Matthew Holland, Debbie Erikson, Tim Erikson, and wife, Julie, and David Erikson; and cousins Connor Hare, Gwyn Hare, Emma Hare, Zack Holland, Lily Holland, Timmy Holland, Michael Holland, Olivia Holland, Rebecca Erikson, Anthony Erikson, Eli Erikson, Cara Beth Erikson, and Daniel Erikson. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Thomas Michael Hare and her uncle, A.J. Erikson.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs, officiated by the Rev. John Lee.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service on Sunday. To allow the service to begin at 3:00 PM, the visitation line will close at that time.
