Sandra Vess Jernigan

Sandra Vess Jernigan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026.

She was the daughter of the late Charles R. Vess and Blanche B. Vess. Sandra spent most of her life in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, where she was a longtime member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she faithfully served her church in many ways, including as a member of the Truth Seekers class and the church choir, where she sang and praised the Lord for more than 60 years.

Music was a special part of Sandra’s life. As a young woman, she had the opportunity to sing professionally with Joe Bennett and the Sparkletones. Her love of music never faded, and she continued sharing that gift with others throughout her years.

Sandra retired from Titex Corporation in 1998. While she was proud of her career, her greatest joy came from her family. She treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great pride in watching her family grow.

Sandra leaves behind her loving husband, Larry A. Jernigan; daughters, Kim Gosnell and Cheryl Hahn and her husband, Marty; and sons, Ken Mullis and Lance Jernigan and his wife, Shannon.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Nick (Monica), Hannah (Drew), Gabby (Will), Madison (Richard), Kayleigh (Luke), Brock (Hannah), Lauren, Mason (Summer), and Emily; seven great-grandchildren; and two more great-grandchildren expected later this year.

Sandra leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, music, family, and service. The love she shared with those around her and the many lives she touched will remain a lasting part of her family’s story. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family will receive friends at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs on Friday, August 14, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  The funeral service will be held at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church on Saturday, August 15, at 11:00 PM Burial will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park. 

The family will be receiving friends at their respective homes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
