Samantha Dawn Yelton

Samantha Dawn Yelton, age 42, of Kings Mountain, NC passed away on Thursday, March 5th, 2026 at home.

Samantha was born on September 12th, 1983 in Asheville, NC to Garland and Mildred "Mickey" Johnson Lumpkins. She spent her childhood in NC, FL, and TN until moving to Polk County, NC where she attended Polk County High School. As a teenager, she enjoyed going to the movies with her friends Mary, Holly, and Vicky.

She went on to attend Isothermal Community College where she achieved her associates degree in Nursing. Samantha was passionate about caring for the elderly and spent her career working with Hospice of Cleveland County. Outside of work, Samantha enjoyed watching The Golden Girls, going to the beach, and visiting with her friends and family. Samantha will be remembered for her laughter, her loyalty, and her fierce dedication to her mother and her son.

Remaining to cherish Samantha are her mother Mickey Lumpkins, her son Samuel Yelton, her long time partner Dennis Cole, her brothers Tim Lindsey and Todd Lindsey, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her cats Casper, Rascal, and Miss Kitty. Samantha was preceded in death by her beloved Granny Lumpkins, her father Garland Lumpkins, her nephew Blake Lindsey, her uncle Michael Waddell, her aunts Diane Price and Barbara Johnson, and her cousins Michael Waddell, Stacey Price, and Angie Collins.

Samantha's family would like to especially thank her friends Lora Murray, Mary Belher, Vicky White, and all hospice caregivers for their compassion and generosity in Samantha's final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Cleveland County.
