Rita O. Gilbert

Rita O. Gilbert, 76, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, after a long and courageous journey with her health.

Born March 30, 1949, she was the oldest of four children to the late John R. Oglesby and Loree Whitaker Oglesby. She was also preceded in death by her precious daughter, Lisa Ann Gilbert Parris her greatest love and the center of her world.

Rita leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Hunter and Scarlett Parris, who brought her so much pride and joy. She is also survived by her brothers, Eddie Oglesby (Terry) and Charles Oglesby (Kathy); her sister, Judy Oglesby Brown (Dave); her special friend, Karolina Lirskiy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will miss her deeply.

A woman of faith, Rita was a devoted Christian who attended Baptist churches throughout her life. She found joy in gospel music and, in her younger years, shared her gift of singing with her cousins Becky and Vickie as part of the Oglesby Trio.

Rita was a 1967 graduate of Cowpens High School and later became the proud owner of Creative Workforce, an industrial and mechanical staffing company. Helping others find work was more than a career it was a calling that brought her true happiness.

She found peace in simple things especially tending to her flowers. Rita believed life was always a little brighter with something in bloom.

After the heartbreaking loss of her daughter Lisa in 2014, Rita carried that love and grief with her every day. Though she was never the same, her love never faded. Now, they are reunited, and her heart is whole again.

The family is deeply grateful for the kindness, prayers, and support shown during Rita's illness.
