Richard "Giz" Keith Gibson

Richard "Giz" Keith Gibson, 72, of Boiling Springs, went to his eternal home on Friday, December 22, 2023 surrounded by his immediate family.  He was born on November 6, 1951 to the late John Belton Gibson and Alice Elizabeth Wix Gibson of Pacolet, SC.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Rebecca "Becky" Hutchins Gibson; daughter, Andrea Plummer (Keith); grandchildren, Brandon Wall, Nick Wall, and Kaitlyn Wall; sister, Barbara Sherbert of Pacolet; along with several nieces and nephews; and Becky's cousin, Brandy Perkins and her children raised in the home, Triston Perkins, Tylin Perkins, and Tegan Perkins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Pam Gibson; and nephew, Timmy Sherbert

Richard was a graduate of Pacolet High School and proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 1971-1973. He was a disabled Veteran that fought in the Vietnam War from 1972-1973.

He and his wife Becky, along with their daughter Andrea, and grandchildren, operated Becky's BBQ and Catering for many years until health-related issues forced them to close the operation.  In his previous career, Richard was a diesel mechanic. He loved going to the race, fishing, and joking around with family, friends, and his military brothers, especially his longtime friend, Lewis Coleman.  He never met a stranger, and enjoyed his time with Turner's Concessions, traveling and working fairs, festivals, and events.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Friday, December 29, 2023 in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lancaster, Rev. Ray Hollifield and Kevin Cooksey officiating. Burial will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 12:00 pm prior to the service at Eggers Funeral Home.
