Richard Earl Adams

Mr. Richard Earl Adams, age 77, widower of Shirley Vinson Adams, of Kelton, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 after a brief illness.

Mr. Adams was born October 26, 1945, in Union, a son of the late James Earl and Elsie Skoog Adams. He served in the National Guard Army.  Richard was the owner of Adams Brothers Logging and enjoyed working in the woods for over 40 years. He was a faithful member of Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church and served on the Administrative Board, served as a trustee, a member of the Irving Newton Sunday School Class, and a member of the Men's Club.  He  was also a member of Mt. Joy Masonic Lodge #203 and served as a past Worshipful Master. He was devoted to his community and served on both the Kelly-Kelton Fire Department Board and the Rocky Creek Water Board. He enjoyed woodworking and visiting with friends and family.  He was a great daddy and his grandson, Ayden, was his heart.

Surviving are son, Drew Adams, of Kelton; sisters, Jenny Adams and Deborah A. Crisp, both of Kelton; grandson, Ayden Adams; daughter-in-law, Hope Adams; and Goddaughter, Maggie Genoble.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by sisters; Linda Kinsey and Lois Garner; brothers, Oscar, Talmadge, and Michael Adams.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Lee Coyle and Pastor Chad Ponder. Burial will follow at Porter-Gallman Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church prior to the services.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Adams, Jonathan Adams, Tyler Lawson, Ken Adams, Jr., Hal Fowler, and Eddie Kelly. Asked to sit in a group are members of Masonic Lodge #203 and members of Irving Newton Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church "Way Forward Fund", P.O. Box  611, Union, SC 29379

The family will be at their respective homes.
