Rev. Bobby Gene Lindsey

Rev. Bobby Gene Lindsey, 85, of Chesnee, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

Born June 3, 1941, in Baldwyn, Mississippi, he was a son of the late Joseph Earl Lindsey and Verdie Mae Williams Lindsey. He was the devoted husband of the late Sharon Taylor Lindsey, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Rev. Lindsey dedicated his life to serving the Lord and sharing the Gospel. He was ordained into the ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Greer, South Carolina, on August 14, 1966, beginning a ministry that would span 60 years and touch countless lives.

He was a graduate of Greer Senior High School and continued his education at North Greenville College, Furman University, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree.

Throughout his pastoral ministry, Rev. Lindsey served congregations across South Carolina and Texas. He served as pastor of Jones Avenue Baptist Church in Easley, Agee Baptist Church in Hico, Texas, Mount Airy Baptist Church in Easley, State Line Baptist Church in Gaffney, Eastview Baptist Church in Belton, Princeton Baptist Church in Honea Path, and Piedmont Heights Baptist Church in Piedmont. He also served as interim pastor at Mount Whitaker Baptist Church in Blacksburg, Little Mountain Baptist Church in Wellford, and Peach Valley Baptist Church in Spartanburg. In his later years of ministry, he continued serving the Lord as Senior Adult Pastor at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, giving countless hours to visiting and ministering to senior adults. He treasured the opportunity to spend time with them, offering encouragement, and praying with them.

Beyond the churches he pastored, Rev. Lindsey was deeply involved in Baptist life throughout South Carolina, serving in numerous leadership, committee, and associational roles. His ministry was much more than a vocation; it was his life's calling. He loved the Lord, loved people, and remained a faithful servant of Christ throughout his life.

Rev. Lindsey was also a devoted family man. He loved his family and grandchildren dearly and treasured the time spent with them. His family will remember him as a loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather, and a man whose life was a reflection of the faith he spent a lifetime sharing with others.

Surviving are daughter, Linda L. Moore, and husband, Clark; son, Stan Lindsey, and wife, Gretchen; sister, Sue Parkman; brother, Charles "Charlie" Lindsey, and wife, Brenda; and grandchildren, Austin Lindsey, and wife, Makennah, Olivia Moore, Spencer Lindsey, Sarah Garrett, and husband, Otis, and Elizabeth Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, with Rev. Ronnie Cox, Dr. Wayne Dickard, and Dr. Keith Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Austin Lindsey, Spencer Lindsey, and Otis Garrett will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Bill Howell Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers and are asked to sit together as a group.

Rev. Lindsey spent six decades proclaiming the hope of the Gospel, shepherding God's people, and faithfully answering the call placed upon his life. His earthly ministry is now complete. Well done, thou good and faithful servant. -Matthew 25:23
