Renee Ayers Balkam

Renee Ayers Balkam, 68, of Inman passed away June 23 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Hollis Ayers and the late Betty Kimbrell Ayers of Boiling Springs, SC. She was predeceased by her husband, Geoffrey Balkam and a brother, Alan Ayers.

She is survived by three children Kevin (Blythe) Seay of Columbus, NC, Suzanne (Cortez) Earle of Inman, SC and Aaron Seay of Landrum, SC. Her greatest joy in life and her favorite title was being Oma to her eight grandchildren:  Savannah (Chris) Everhart, McKenna (Chad) Painter, Alana Seay, Bryson Seay, Brooke Seay, Maddie Seay, Aiden Seay and Emma Seay as well as five great-grandchildren Adalyn, McKinley and Lakelyn Painter and Deacon and Hunter Everhart. As well as a sister Freida Dudley of Georgetown, SC.

The family would like to extend gratitude to her long-time caregiver Teresa for loving her, taking excellent care of her and being a friend to her.

Renee devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and to the many children she taught in her years as a special education teacher. She will be remembered for her quick wit, selflessness, generosity, kindness to animals and her huge heart. She was an amazing cook and the absolute best baker. She made everyone around her smile. She had the best laugh. She was loved and cherished by her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to the Shriners Hospital of Greenville at 950 W Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.

The Family will have a private service.
