Randall Scott Vassey

Randall Scott Vassey, age 62 of Gaffney, SC, went to his eternal home on November 30, 2023 after a brief illness. Randy, as he was known, was born on January 13, 1961 to the late Russell Dean Vassey Sr. and the late Edith Blanton Vassey. Many of his friends referred to him as "Banjer", a nickname he was given in high school. Randy was a graduate of Chesnee High School and Spartanburg Community College where he became a welder. He started his lifelong career at Piedmont Mechanical where he spent many years until transitioning to Scruggs Mechanical where he later semi-retired. He was an avid motorcycle rider and you would only find him on a Harley Davidson. Randy was a lifelong member of State Line Baptist Church. He was met at heavens gates by his father, Russell Dean Vassey, his mother, Edith Blanton Vassey and his brother Rusty Vassey.

He has left behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Ashleigh Greene and grandson, Ty Jones of Cliffside, NC, his nephews; Paul Vassey and his wife Sarah and great niece Matilda, Nicholas Vassey and his wife Amber and Great Nephews Ryan and RC all of Union, SC.

The family will receive friends Saturday December 9, 2023 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at State Line Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 12:00pm at State Line Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Pattillo officiating. The family will be at the home of Randy's daughter. Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC is serving the family.
