Peggy Ann Smith Shields

Peggy Ann Smith Shields, 86, of Chesnee, SC, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Coley K. Smith and Daisy Robbins Smith. Mrs. Shields was a former member and pianist of Broad River Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Shields enjoyed cooking and gardening, especially growing flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Dupree Shields; daughter, Debra Ann Shields; sister, Dorothy Ramsey; and two brothers, Thurman Smith and Robert Smith.

Mrs. Shields is survived by her four sons, Reginald Shields, Mark Shields (Brenda), Samuel Dale Shields (Kim) and Nathaniel Shields; and six grandchildren, Joshua M. Shields, Heather N. Shields, Dr. Caleb M. Shields (Missa), Rebekah Shields, Samuel R. Shields and Hannah Shields.

A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Shields' life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 22, 2023 in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. Burial will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
