Osier Palmer Blackwell, Jr.

Osier Palmer Blackwell Jr., age 73, passed away after a long battle with congestive heart failure Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg, SC. He passed away surrounded by family and friends. Born January 15, 1951, he was a son of the late Osier Palmer Blackwell Sr. and Lola Champion Blackwell. He lived a full life with two boys (Osier Palmer Blackwell 3rd (Trey) and Brent Justin Blackwell) and a beautiful marriage of 52 years to Cheryl Johnson Blackwell. The last 6 years of his life were dedicated to squeezing every available moment he could with his two grandchildren (Victoria Rose Blackwell and Anthony Cael Blackwell). Outside of Cheryl, they were his reason for living. Osier retired from BMW after 16 years in various roles and worked 22 years at Hoechst Celanese as an electrician. He served in the Navy on the USS Seattle from 1969-1973. He was also a graduate of Chesnee High School. His hobbies were hanging around the pool, building things, riding his golf cart with his grandchildren, and yelling at the TV while watching Clemson football. In addition to Cheryl, Brent (his wife Ashley), Victoria, and Anthony, Osier is survived by: Brother Rocky Blackwell (Gloria), three sisters Judy Crowe, Janice Watson (Bob), Dale Foster (Special friend Kevin Henderson), and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to Osier Blackwell Sr. and Lola, he was preceded in death by his son Trey, and three brothers Wayne Blackwell, Marion Blackwell, Michael Blackwell.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee with Dr. Gary Grogan, Rev. Steve Freeman, and Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Music will be provided by the Rev. Scott McClellan. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
