Norman Parr

Harry Norman Parr, age 78, husband of Jewel Davis Parr, passed away, Monday, June 23, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Parr was born in Spartanburg on April 20, 1947, the son of the late Helen Fennell Parr and Harry Ernest Parr. He was a graduate of Dorman High School's first graduating class, which was in 1965.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam.  Norman was a member of View Church.  He retired as a Materials Control Manager after thirty years of service with Menzel Inc. and was also an entrepreneur and owned two successful businesses: Parr 3 Automotive and Parr's Quality Car Wash, both in Boiling Springs.  Norman was a member of the Pit Crew for Marty Robbins's NASCAR team. He was an avid racing enthusiast and took great pride in being an integral part of his grandson, Grant's racing career.

Norman was a true patriarch of his family and led by example.  He was a hard worker, supportive of his family, held everyone to the same high standard, spoke his mind and didn't leave much to interpretation.  Along with this, he had a great sense of humor.  He was always the "voice of reason", and his family looked to him for his seal of approval on all important decisions.  Norman lived by the motto, "If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing right."  He loved to help others and did so not for notoriety but because he was a servant of the Lord and was doing the Lord's work.

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife of 56 years are sons, Shane Parr (Mia) and Brian Parr (Shannon); grandchildren, Ivey McCauley (Malik), Jessie Martin (Mati), Megan Parr (Tyler), Grant Parr (Grace), Oliver Parr, and Hayes Parr; great-grandchildren, Camden Elder, Malachi Martin, Layton Parker, and one great-granddaughter on the way.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Ruth P. Bradley.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 27, 2025, in the Eggers Funeral Home Chapel of Boiling Springs, with the Rev. Ronnie Norris officiating. Interment will follow at Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be, David Taylor, Michael Slater, Grant Parr, Oliver Parr, Jordan Hamrick, and Mati Martin.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Eggers Funeral Home in Boiling Springs.
