Nancy Carol Waddell

Mrs. Nancy Carol Waddell, age 78, of Cowpens, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2026, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills – Forest City Hospice House in Forest City, North Carolina.

Mrs. Waddell, known as Carol, was born on June 2, 1948, in Spartanburg County to the late Willie Norris Emory and Rosa Lee Humphries Emory. She loved music, especially gospel music, and enjoyed listening to it loudly. Whenever she was nearby, she was known for being heard long before she was seen. Mrs. Waddell also loved drinking coffee. Most important to her was her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a longtime, active member of Free Will Baptist Church in Spartanburg.

Carol is survived by her children, Alan Hawkins and his wife, Tiffany, of Cowpens, Tonya Hunter of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and Robert Waddell Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Boiling Springs, SC; her sons-in-law, Sam Gregory and Edward Harris, both of Belton, SC; her grandchildren: Ashley Gregory, Christy Effler, Trina Bryant, Kendall Ussery, Megan Lopez, Bailey Hawkins, Harley Hawkins, Joshua Hunter, and Nicole Hunter; her great-grandchildren: Channing Bryant, Delilah Bryant, and Gabe Lopez; and her brother, Joe Emory, of Belton.

In addition to her loving parents, Willie and Rosa, Carol was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters.

The family will hold a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Peace Free Will Baptist Church, located at 1195 Old Converse Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
