Mary Geraldine Mcclanahan Copeland

Mary Geraldine McClanahan Copeland, 93 of Boiling Springs, South Carolina passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. Mary was born the daughter of Joesph and Vada McClanahan on August 2, 1932, in Morristown Tennessee.

Mary was actively involved with her church, and an avid bible reader. She loved traveling to visit friends and family, interior design, and gardening. Her days were often marked by simple pleasure; time spent with loved ones, faith, and the quiet routines that define a meaningful life.

Known to many simply as Gerri, she lived a life rooted in love for God, family, and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family devotion, and quiet strength.

Born into the McClanahan family, Gerri carried forward the traditions, values, and resilience of her ancestors. She was a devoted daughter throughout her life she maintained a deep connection to her family heritage, which remained an important part of her identity.

Gerri built a home centered on care, compassion, and dedication. She cherished her role within the family as a wife, mother, grandmother, and relative finding her greatest fulfillment in the lives of those she loved.

Gerri Copeland is survived by her husband; Bob Copeland; brother, Dana McClanahan; son, Garth W. Arvin; daughter Marcia A. Coleman, stepdaughter, Cher Cantrell, stepson Micheal Copeland, nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, four nephews, and a niece.

She was proceeded by her parents; her sister, Frieda Ann McClanhan; her brother, Paul McClanhan; her son, James Delane Arvin; and her great granddaughter, Rosslyn Dior Rowland.

Gerri will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the generations who follow her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, May 15, 2026, at Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion, Indiana with a reception to follow at Sunnycrest Community Church, 1921 W. Bradford St., Marion, Indiana. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials can be made to the Encounter Church, 1905 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, SC 29340.
