Marie Pace Purvis

Marie Pace Purvis, 80, the kindest human ever, went home to be with Jesus, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born March 30, 1943, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late DW Seay and Vivian McCarter Seay. She was predeceased by a sister, Marlene Taylor and is survived by sisters, Brenda Nyberg and Deborah Thompson who was also her caregiver for the past two years. She was married to the late Larry Pace, Boiling Springs, for 33 years and is survived by their 4 daughters, Cynthia Murray (Craig), Tina Svenson, Tammy Thompson (Danny), and Constance Taylor. She was also married to the late Dr. Jordan Purvis, Keowee, SC, for 18 years.

Grammi loved her children and adored her 10 grandchildren, Traci Thompson Garrett (Chris), Dylan Thompson (Melanie), Andrew Svenson, Matthew Svenson (Jessie), Pace Murray (Christa), Caroline Svenson, Daniel Thompson (Maddie), Baxter Murray (Annie), Carson Taylor, and Dawson Taylor; and was obsessed with her 10 great-grandchildren, Kaia, Shiloh and Galilee Thompson; Lucy, Warner, and Simon Murray; Daniel and Grayson Garrett; and Rowan Jo and Logan Marie Thompson.

Marie loved church and faithfully served in children and women's ministry throughout her life. Music was special to her, and she cherished hymns until the end.

She worked at Milliken and was a Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years. Cooking was her love language and all who knew her benefited. She spent her retirement years hosting dinner clubs, playing tennis, and attending her grandchildren's events.

As her memory faded the last few years of her life, she enjoyed the kindness and company of The Springers, a senior group located in Boiling Springs.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Carlisle Wesleyan Church, 3250 Old Furnace Road Chesnee, SC 29323 at 11:00am on Saturday, March 16, 2024. The family will be available at 10:00am.

From her daughters: The person who loved us first and the longest has left us physically. But she will always be part of us, our children, their children, and so on. Her legacy of unconditional, sacrificial love will live on.
