Rev. Malcolm Wayne Hinson

Reverend Malcolm Wayne Hinson, 78, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 26, 2026. Born on December 23, 1947, in Concord, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Lovie and Mary Delette Reeder Hinson.

Rev. Hinson devoted his life to serving both his country and his Lord. A proud United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, he later answered a higher calling to the ministry. A bivocational minister, he faithfully pastored and served congregations throughout his life while also dedicating years of service to the Veterans Administration after his retirement.

A lifelong student of God's Word, Wayne graduated from Hartsell High School in Concord, North Carolina Class of 1966, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, two master's degrees, and five doctoral degrees. His love for Scripture was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a member of Valley Falls Baptist Church and had also attended Prayer Baptist Church. He is one of the founders of Musketeer Missions Incorporated, which distributes Bibles throughout the country.

Rev. Hinson was known for always dressing sharply and faithfully serving as a member of the mission group "Stay on the Wall" representing the wall of prayer. His unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and commitment to sharing the Gospel left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Above all, Wayne treasured his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose wisdom, encouragement, and steadfast faith will be deeply missed.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Griffith Hinson; his children, Sherry Hinson of Concord, North Carolina, Amy Benge of Rockwell, North Carolina, and Todd Hinson of Greenville, South Carolina; his stepson, Rev. John Elmore, Jr. (Kay) of Holly Hill, South Carolina; his stepdaughter, Dr. Mandy Elmore (John) of Anderson, South Carolina; his sister, Shirley White (Dean); his brother, Robert Hinson; grandchildren, Amber McQueen (DJ), Justin Hinson (Caroline), Jessica Clark (Dylan), Holly Plummer,Jenna Hinson, Caitlin Benge, Lani Hinson, Brooke Benge, and five
great-grandchildren, Carson and Landen McQueen and Addie Clark, Owen and Beau Hinson, numerous nieces and nephews; along with many Brothers in Christ that served faithfully and walked alongside him in the ministry.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs.

A funeral service celebrating Rev. Hinson's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home with Rev. John Elmore, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park 2206 Woodruff Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29681.

Active pallbearers will be Rev. Dr.  Arthur Moore, D.J. McQueen, Carson McQueen, Rev. Frank Walker, Rev. Tim Sigmon, and Rev. Dr. J.T. Sanders.
