Lola Bess Harvey

Lola Bess Harvey, 99, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023 at her home.

Born in Rutherfordton, NC, she was a daughter of the late John Maxwell Radford and Bertie Johnson Hogan Radford. Lola was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She dearly loved her family. Lola was always faithful to her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of Valley Falls Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bufford William Gosnell; second husband, J.P. Harvey; two children, Allan Leon Harvey and Syble Juanita Harvey Ruttle; two sisters, Nora Gosnell and Irene Henson; four brothers, Wade Radford, Memory Radford, Aden Radford, and John Radford, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Allyssa Putnam; and a son-in-law, Michael Ray Horton.

Left to cherish Lola's memory is her daughter, Mary Jane Horton; three sisters, Violet Radford, Joy Christine Lawrence, and Geneva Keever; eight grandchildren, Christie Hewitt (David), Brandi Horton Ridlehoover, Jonathan Michael Horton (Sabrina), Ginger Renee Gregory, Mia Parr, Melissa Carter, Susan Harvey Doll, and Ashley Harvey Coan; 10 great-great grandchildren, Spencer Chase Hewitt, Allyssa Michelle Hewitt, Brantley Reid Hewitt, Britany Christine Putnam, Jacob William McKee, Madison Taylor Barham, Hank Taylor Barham, Braxton Michael Horton, Cassidy Jazmyn Likes, and Kaitlyn Sybil Gilstrap; and one great-great-grandchild, Damien Ashe Robinson.

A funeral service to celebrate Lola's life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Parkway Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Mitchel Edge and Rev. Roger Gosnell officiating. Burial will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
