Lenora Lee Bishop

Lenora Roosevelt Lee Bishop, 90, of Mayo, SC went home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2023 after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Elbert Bishop.

Lenora was born March 28, 1933 in Whitney, SC to the late Herbert Lee and Beatrice Jones Lee. She graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1951. She was a homemaker and then worked in textiles for many years until she retired from John H. Montgomery.

Lenora was a loving wife, mother, and "Mema". In addition to her husband, Elbert, who she loved dearly, she leaves behind her loving family to cherish their memories of her. Her three children, Randy Bishop (Vickie), Debra Hall (Braxton), Roger Bishop (Sherry). Six grandchildren, Shane Bishop (Megan), Amber Bouknight (Rob), Cori Dill (Brandon), Amanda Bishop, Shannon Wade (Clint), and Andrea High (Ned). She also leaves behind nine great grandchildren who she loved to visit with, Chloe and Ridge Bishop, Adelaide, Eliette, and Oliver Bouknight, Max Young, Boyd and August Wade, and Marlowe High. She is also survived by her brother, Ray W. Lee and sisters, Sara Hill and Barbara Elder (Roy). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Lee, George T. Lee, and John E. Lee.

Lenora loved the Lord and had been a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church since 1952 where she was an active member teaching those of all ages through VBS, Acteens, and as a Sunday School teacher for the Senior Ladies for many years. She spent time reading her Bible each morning and embodied what it means to be a servant of the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday December 27, 2023 at Buck Creek Baptist Church in Chesnee, SC. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm prior to the service. Honored attendees will be the Buck Creek Baptist Church Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. Entombment will be at Springhill Memorial Gardens immediately after the service.
