Larry Gene Scales

Larry Gene Scales, age 85, of Pacolet, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Larry was born May 26, 1940, in Pacolet, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Eugene Claude Scales and Lucile Martin Scales. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Keith Louis Scales.

Larry lived a life centered on his faith, his family, and his love for his country. He graduated from Pacolet High School, attended Spartanburg Methodist College, and proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a faithful member of Northbrook Baptist Church in Boiling Springs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Brown Scales; his brother, Kenneth Wayne Scales (Katherine) of Pacolet, SC; and their children Michael and Vickie. Joseph Robert Scales (Sharon) of Boiling Springs, SC, Sherry Goodwin (Randy) of Spartanburg, SC, Glenda Warner (Charles) of Spartanburg, SC,
Sonya Edwards (Mark) of Spartanburg, SC; his grandchildren, Colby Robert Scales (Megan), Clayton William Scales, Jennifer Carter (Tim), Halie Avendano (Alex), Chelsie Wood (Tom), Matthew Graham (Emory), Benjamin Edwards (Sarah), Nicholas Edwards (La'el) Michelle Lipsey (Kyle); and his great- grandchildren, Michael Tanner Lipsey,  Kaylee, Gabriel, Eli, Maylen, and Ellasen.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Northbrook Baptist Church, 1881 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, SC. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Benny Green, with special music by Mr. Kevin Dedmon.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC.

Larry will be remembered for his kind heart, his strong faith, and the love he had for his family. His memory will be treasured by all who knew him.
