Kenneth "Bud" Wayne Mckinney

Kenneth "Bud" Wayne McKinney, 87, of Cowpens, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 17, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on February 22, 1936 in Cooley Springs, SC.  He was the husband of Janie Cooke McKinney for 57 years, and a son of the late William P. and Frances McMillan McKinney.

Mr. McKinney was a native of Spartanburg County.  He loved the Lord and his family dearly. He enjoyed fishing and bird hunting, and loved watching his grandsons play baseball. He was a veteran of the Army and attended Mount Olive Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Steve and Michelle McKinney of Cowpens; sister, Ann Powell, of Inman;  grandsons, Grant and Kayce McKinney of Lyman, and Brandon McKinney of Cowpens; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Betty Bishop; brothers, Gene McKinney, Edwin McKinney, Bill McKinney, Hugh McKinney, Tom McKinney, John McKinney, and Max McKinney.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee. A funeral service will be at 1:00PM on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Spencer officiating. Interment will follow the service at Springhill Memorial Gardens.
