Kelly Dean Munsey

Kelly Dean Munsey, 71, entered heavenly rest on May 28, 2026, at Hospice Cleveland County in Shelby, North Carolina.

Dean was born on June 6, 1954, in Cliffside, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Macy Munsey.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Ann; four children, Sherri Richardson (Tommy), Crystal Strickland (Bobby), Jonathon Munsey (Angela), and David Munsey (Sarah); seven grandchildren, Nathan, Caleb (Katie), Emily (Carson), Hannah (Hunter), Devin (Jessie), Emerson, and Greyson; two great-grandchildren, Elliott and Clara, and one great-grandchild on the way. He also leaves behind two cousins who were more like siblings, Patricia Ingle (Livingston) and Roland Blanton (Joyce).

Dean worked as a consultant in the power industry for more than 50 years, a career that took him around the world as he consulted on projects in Canada, Australia, South Korea, and all over the United States. He was an active member of the Cliffside Masonic Lodge 460 and Goodes Creek Baptist Church and loved cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. He also loved his dogs throughout the years, including Bear Bear, Bandit, Toby, Charlie, Molly, and Jesse.

He fiercely loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who will miss his quick wit and big heart but take hope in the knowledge that he is being comforted in the arms of his Savior now, for "to be away from the body" is to be "at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8). Dean loved the Lord and would hope that all who read this personally experience the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful nursing staff at Atrium Health Cleveland and his nurse practitioner, Meg, at Hospice Cleveland County.

The family will receive friends from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, May 31, 2026 in the sanctuary at Goodes Creek Baptist Church in Mooresboro, NC. The funeral service will follow at 4:00pm in the sanctuary with Reverend Dale Welch and Reverend Bobby Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC is serving the family.
