Joye Gilbert Alexander

Joye Gilbert Alexander, 84, of Boiling Springs went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at her residence after a long illness. Born on January 9, 1941, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late John Dean Edwards, and Catherine Morrow Edwards, and was the widow of the late W. W. Gilbert, Jr (Bill).

To those closest to her she was "Mama Joye." She embraced and thrived as a homemaker for many years, and welcomed her family and friends, and their friends into her home with kindness. Mama Joye loved spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, and bird watching. Her favorite past-times were family trips to the beach camping at Ocean Lakes, weekend trips to the Mountains, cook-outs at home and swimming in her pool.

She had an unwavering faith and commitment in God and was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Laura Gilbert; two sons, Bill (Maryann) Gilbert, Dale Gilbert, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kaye Shetley.

In addition to her late husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Ballard; a grandson, Jonathan Ballard; and two sisters, June Bullington, and Cherrie Crocker.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Good Shepherd Memorial Park with Dr. Mike Hamlet officiating.
