John Benjamin Williamson, Jr.

John Benjamin Williamson, Jr., 74, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

Born in Danville, VA, he was a son of the late John Benjamin Williamson, Sr. and Alice Luttrell Williamson. He retired from the United States Army after twenty plus years, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. Johnny had several passions throughout his life family was always first, Johnny was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. The love and pride he had for his country was evident by his four tours in Vietnam, being stationed in Germany. Johnny had a passion for cars, wonderful memories were made in the 1986 CJ7 Jeep, 1967 mustang, 1972 Monto Carlo and 1968 MGB are just a few.

Johnny loved to make people laugh, either by a great story from his time in the Army, or playing a trick on Joyce, Deanna, or JB. He loved creating memories with his family, either by spending time together, or going on an adventure such as camping, going to a rodeo or mud bog. He will forever be remembered for his infamous thumbs up, smile and his I love you wave as you were pulling out of the driveway.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Joyce Walker Williamson; daughter, Deanna W. Robbins (Michael); son, J.B. Williamson, III (Amy); two sisters, Cynthia W. Diehm (Dieter) and Wanda W. Scruggs; brother, Danny Lee Williamson (Kathy); and four grandchildren, Savannah Robbins, Rebekah Young (Nick), Emilyn Williamson, and Braelyn Williamson.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs, SC, and from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel in Danville, VA.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Danville, VA.
