John R. Pruitt Sr.

John R. Pruitt, 79, of Fingerville, husband of Dorothy Pruitt, passed away April 11th, 2025 at his home.

Born in Pacolet, SC, to the late Roy Pruitt and Lollie Turner Pruitt. Johnny was a man who never met a stranger, always had a joke in his pocket, and claimed the prestigious (though entirely unofficial) title of "Mayor of Fingerville". Johnny was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a true friend to anyone lucky enough to cross his path. He was the kind of man who could strike up a conversation with just about anyone—and usually did. Johnny had a way of making people feel like they had known him forever.

He worked as a Cross-Country Pipeline Engineer, a job that took him to 47 of the 50 states. Of all his travels, Virginia stood out —especially in the fall, when the leaves turned every shade of red and gold. But no matter how far his work took him, nothing compared to the feeling of coming home

Johnny loved the outdoors. He found peace and joy in hunting quail and small birds, and he could spend hours with a fishing pole in hand. Johnny's faith was a guiding force in his life. Johnny was a member of Fingerville First Baptist, and was a member of the "Goal Reacher's" Sunday School class. He loved the Lord with all his heart and lived each day with gratitude, and kindness. He had a gift for laughter and used it often—telling stories, cracking jokes, and bringing light to even the dullest moments. If you were around Johnny for more than five minutes, odds are good you were laughing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; Bobby Pruitt, and Pat Pruitt, and a sister Nancy Roe.

Johnny is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy, son John R. Pruitt Jr. (Teri), Special Niece, Kim Quinn (Jimmy), great nieces; Mckenna Green (Andrew), and Jadyn Brasher (Justin), and a lifelong friend who was more like a brother, Doug Jett.

Pallbearers will be; Eddie Pruitt, Jimmy Jett, Mitch Henderson, Justin Brasher, Andrew Green, Joey Cantrell, Butch Holloway, and Jimmy Quinn.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday the 17th in Eggers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Spencer and Rev. Norman Band officiating. Burial will follow at Good Shepard Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Wednesday the 16th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home.
