John Elzie Lawter, Jr.

John E. Lawter, Jr, 75, of Chesnee, SC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 27, 2024. He was born on January 2, 1949, to the late John Elzie Lawter, Sr. and Lillian Hullett Lawter.

John received an Associate's Degree from Rutledge College and retired from United Rentals. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. John was very patriotic and loved his country. He was a Mason and a member of the American Legion. He received a Quilt of Valor on May 25, 2024, in Honor of his military service.

John was a faithful member of Arrowwood Baptist Church and was involved in the Upper Room Sunday School Class and the Golden Arrows Senior Group. He also served on the building and grounds committee. John enjoyed yardwork and always had projects going on inside and outside of his home and took great pride in his work.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jean Robbins Lawter; daughters, Heather Young (Michael) and Lesley Carpenter; and grandchildren, Tony Diaz, Savannah Young, Lexi Diaz, Skylar Young, and Brody Carpenter.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Peggy Thompson.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Arrowwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Gray, Rev. Bruce Jennings, Rev. Larry Fleming, and Rev. Buddy Robbins officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 3:00pm prior to the service at the church.

The family will be at the home.
