John Thomas Green

John Thomas Green, 82, of Chesnee passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024. Born on June 15, 1942 in Cherokee County, he was the beloved husband of 56 years to Carolyn Stacey Green.  He was in management with Nestle in Gaffney. He served as a Specialist 6 in the Army Reserves from 1963-1968 and was a devoted member of Cooley Springs Baptist Church where he served in many capacities of the church, including Chairman of the Deacons and Sunday School Director. John was an active member in the community and volunteered for the Upstate Family Resource Center, and was a member of the Disaster Relief Team with the Southern Baptist Association. He was also a member of the Peach Blossom Car Club and Classic Chevy Car Club.

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife are one daughter, Kathryn (Todd) Bailey; one brother, Bill Greene; two grandsons, Justin (Sierra) Bailey and Devlin Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Ella; and two nephews, Larry Adams and Wayne Greene. He was predeceased by 4 siblings, his father-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 2:00pm at Cooley Springs Baptist Church with Rev. David Deland, Rev. David Kite, and Mr. Todd Bailey officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be Mitchell Hood, Chris Stacey, Todd Bailey, Devlin Bailey, David Anderson, and Robert Edwards. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons and Men's Sunday School Class of Cooley Springs Baptist Church.  A burial will follow in the church cemetery.
