Jessie Eugene Hipps

Mr. Jessie Eugene "Gene" Hipps of Chesnee, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the age of 84, with his family by his side.

Mr. Hipps was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on October 21, 1940, a son of the late Edna Wilson Hipps and Adolphus Hipps. He was employed with Exo-Pack and retired after 50 years of devoted service. Gene was a dedicated member of Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church where he found comfort in his faith.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Louvenia Smith Hipps; a great-grandson, Levi Bremer; sisters, Myrtle Horton, Ruby Bradley, Bertha Stephens, and Ruby Walls; and brother, Clyde Hipps.

He is survived by his children, Sharon Duncan of Chesnee, Jeanne Burnett of Boiling Springs, Gary Hipps (Shelly) of Chesnee, Tammy Alverson of Ware Shoals, and Nicole Kelly (Michael) of Chesnee; sister, Lucille Bush (L.J.); and brother, William "Billy" Hipps of Chesnee; twenty grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ken Hales officiating.

Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Boiling Springs, South Carolina.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Joshua, Zachary, and Daniel Hand, Colton Kelly, Joe H. Lemaster III, and John Edwards.

Gene will be missed by his family and all that knew him.
