Janie C Mckinney

Janie Amelia Cooke McKinney, 87, of Cowpens, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

Janie was born on August 21, 1938, in Cowpens, South Carolina, a  daughter of the late Walker Cooke and Valerie Parker Cooke. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth "Bud" McKinney.

Mrs. McKinney was a native of Spartanburg County. She loved the Lord and her family dearly. She enjoyed watching the birds and hummingbirds outside her windows, and she especially loved watching her grandsons play baseball. She attended Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Janie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Michelle McKinney of Cowpens; her grandsons, Grant and Kayce McKinney of Lyman, and Brandon McKinney and Abby Hampton (fiancée) of Cowpens; her brother, Leland Cooke; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ola Belle Thrift,  Bobbie Allen, Yvonne Tucker, Diane Worthy, and Shirley Quinn; and by her brother, Jimmy Cooke.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 1:00 PM. at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Childers and Rev. Dennis Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM prior to the service

The family will be at the home, 167 Greenway Drive.
