Janice Cooke Skates

Janice Cooke Skates gained her heavenly wings and entered into the pearly gates with her Lord and Savior on December 13, 2023, with her family by her side.

Janice was the faithful wife of the late Fred Skates, Sr. and the daughter of the late Ray and Millie Bradley Cooke.  She is predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth and Donald Cooke; sisters, Donna Gail and Lynn Cooke.

Janice devoted her life to and cherished her children and grandchildren since the age of 15.  Her love was unconditional to everyone she met.  Her children include four daughters, Regina Lambert (Jesse), Betty Bryant (Frank), Ruby Aycoth and Joyce Horton (Danny); and one son, Fred Skates, Jr. (Amanda); grandchildren include, Kayla Bolton (Andrew), Samantha Neal (Bryan), Joshua Bryant, Jacob Bryant, Anna Bryant, Macee Skates, Lane Skates, Tyler Aycoth (Caroline), Durant Smith and Trent Smith; great-grandchildren, Lilah and Rhett Bryant, Embry

and Maggie Bolton, Enzley and Walker Aycoth, Brynly Neal, Ava and Cassie Neal, Weston Smith, Brandon Skates and Austin Gore.

Our mama may not have had a great lavish career, she may not have won awards or honors, but she made a career out of taking care of her family, friends and home.  She will have so many crowns when she meets her Lord.  She is healthy, has no more pain and is with all her loved ones rejoicing.

Mama, this is only goodbye for now, we will see you soon, tell Daddy we said hello.  We love you always.  I hope there is the biggest Marshall's up there that you have ever seen.  Love you forever and always!

Pallbearers will be Josh Bryant, Tyler Aycoth, Lane Skates, Bryan Neal, Andrew Bolton, Durant Smith and Trent Smith. Great-grandchildren will be honorary escorts.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Una First Freewill Baptist Church with Frank Bryant, son-in-law and Jacob Bryant, grandson officiating.

The family will be at her home, 249 Chapman Road, Pacolet, South Carolina 29372.
