Janice Black Horton

Janice Black Horton, 71, of Chesnee, South Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1953 to the late Marvin Edward Black and Edna Louise "Boot" Suttles.

Janice was a member of View Church in Boiling Springs and retired from the USPS as a mail carrier. She loved her children and loved being "Mimi" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to garden, fish, and cook. She had a servant's heart and loved to do for others.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Melissa "Missi" Sprouse (Brent) and Maranda "Mandi" Davis (Waylon); son, Joseph "Joe" Ned Horton; sisters, Linda Teague (Rocky), Sue Isom (Steve), and Sherri Miller (Harold); brother, Billy Black (Sharon); sisters-in-law, Kim Black, Nancy Bishop, and Linda Horton (best friend), brother-in-law, Frank Horton (Bobbie); grandchildren, Cheyanne James (Stacey), Garrett Sprouse (Katie), Pixie Horton (Garren Miller), Grant Sprouse, Cpl. Layton Davis, and Demi Jo Horton (DT Walker); and great grandchildren, Staelee Rae James and Boyce James. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carroll Ned Horton; and brother, Eddie Black.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at View Church, with the Rev. Tyler Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM until 3:00PM, prior to the service at the church. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Garrett Sprouse, Grant Sprouse, Cpl. Layton Davis, Stacey James, Garren Miller, and D.T. Walker.

The family will be at their respective homes.
