Jane Rathbone Hood

Mrs. Jane Rathbone Hood, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mrs. Hood was born on July 15, 1942, in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Lelia Cumi Smith Rathbone and Oliver Jethrow Rathbone. She attended Green Point Baptist Church in Inman.  Jane worked in the medical field as a home health caregiver. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, cutting her own grass, and playing with her little dog, Minnie.

Left to cherish her memory are a sister, Ruth Veronee; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and two dear friends, Sandra Autry and Miriam Thompson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hood was predeceased by her husband, Wilson Hood, sisters, Lucy, Jane, Mary, Donna Sue, Jean, and Jackie; and brothers, Frank, Joe, Hank, Bobby, and Thomas Boone; and fiancé, Marvin Tillotson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025 in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs, South Carolina with Rev. Dr. David Lancaster officiating.

Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs, South Carolina.

The family will receive friends Monday prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.
