James C. Pruitt

James C. Pruitt, 82, of Columbus, North Carolina husband of Claudia Pruitt, a proud Air Force veteran, devoted family man, and steadfast provider, passed away at his home, April 8, 2025.

James served his country with honor during the Vietnam War and carried that same sense of duty and strength into every chapter of his life. After his military service, he spent 38 dedicated years working for Hayssen as an electrical tester. James always provided for his family with unwavering commitment and quiet pride.

He was a simple man, but extraordinary in every way. James loved the peacefulness of home, especially after spending years "living out of a suitcase" during his service. He found joy in the small things—tending to his garden, canning homegrown tomatoes, corn, and cucumbers, and sharing his time with the people he loved most.

James adored his wife and treasured time spent with his son, nieces, and nephews. His fur babies—Rex, Peanut, and especially Maya, who was always faithfully by his side—were beloved companions who brought him great comfort and joy.

In addition to his parents Clarence C Pruitt, and Ethel M Thomasen, James was preceded in death by a daughter; Nanette Marie, brothers; Olan Pruitt, Ray D Pruitt, and sister; Ruby Conard.

Surviving are his wife, Claudia P. Pruitt, son; William T. Pruitt, brother; Gerald Pruitt, sisters; Estel Bridges, Joanne Duggins, Kay Clary, along with numerous nieces, and nephews.

Those who knew James will remember him as a hard worker, a humble hero, and a man who lived with integrity, loyalty, and love.

He will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends at Eggers Funeral home, Boiling Springs, Monday April 14th, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Services with Military Honors will be Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, at 12:00pm at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
