James Howard Byrd

James Howard Byrd, 96, of Chesnee, South Carolina passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026. He was born May 3, 1929 to the late Oliver Byrd and Annie Lackey Byrd.

Jim was an avid golfer who played until he was 95. He was also a member of Post #48 American Legion in Chesnee, South Carolina.

He leaves behind a son, James A. "Butch" Byrd (Coleen); brother, Oliver "Porky" Byrd; granddaughters, Mindy Byrd Toler and Rachel Ann Byrd; grandson, James Joshua Byrd; as well as six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, and wife, Theresa McCall Byrd, he was predeceased by a daughter, Robin Anita Byrd; sister, Nancy Byrd; brothers, Wayne Byrd and Ken Byrd; and a grandson, James Angel Byrd.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Shanda and Anijah Hardy for their kindness, support, and care shown to Jim during their time as caregivers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
