Howard Eugene Jolley

Howard Eugene Jolley, 87, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of the late Herman Eugene Jolley and Vernell Turner Jolley. He retired from Ivey Electric after many years of work. Howard was a deacon for 39 years and was a member of Brooklyn Baptist Church. He was also a former Fire Inspector for Hilltop Fire Department in Spartanburg. Howard loved his family, loved his church family, and loved riding his tractor and golf cart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Onell Jolley and Mary Searcy; and two brothers, James R. Jolley and Boyd Jolley.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lucy Ridings Jolley; four sons, Glenn Jolley (Tammie), Chris Jolley (Krista), Don Jolley (Tammy) and Philip Jolley (Holly); two sisters, Reba Simpson and Nan Allen; a brother, Charlie Jolley (Linda); twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and his special companion, Dawg Jolley.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Holly Springs Senior Citizens Home and Howard's Hospice nurse, Courtney for all the love and care they provided.

A funeral service to celebrate Howard's life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Brooklyn Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Collins and Rev. Randy Shields officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the service.
