Helen Ruth Oxley

Helen Ruth (Ballard) Laws Oxley was born on August 26, 1935, in Gaffney, SC, to the late Robert and Drucilla Ballard. She passed away on May 12, 2024, at the age of 88, in Spartanburg, SC.

Helen, a graduate of Fairforest High School, was a faithful member of Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church and attended Liberty Baptist Church when staying with her daughter. She was such a Godly example to each of us and faithfully read her Bible each night before bed. She found joy in watching game shows, working on puzzles, shopping at Hamrick's, watching grandkids ballgames, Thursday night fish camp, and having her Friday beauty shop day. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Dianne Laws Beavers (Benny), Robert Laws, Sr. (Shirley Jo), and Tina Laws McAbee; 9 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Juanita Brown. and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Oxley; daughter, Sandra Wilson; brother; Frank Ballard; and sisters Monte Reaves and JoAnn Roberts.

The family will gather at daughter Tina's home and will receive friends at Liberty Baptist Church from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024 with the funeral service following at 1:00 pm as they honor and remember the life of Helen Ruth. Reverend David Duncan and Reverend Josh Baer will be officiating. Burial will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
