Hazel H. Greene

Hazel Hutchins Greene, age 91 of Ellenboro, NC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family Friday, December 1, 2023. She was born May 16, 1932 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Burley Miller Hutchins and the late Myrtle Elizabeth Conner Hutchins. She was the widow to the late S. Clyde Greene and a life long homemaker. Hazel was devoted to her church and loved reading her bible as she had read it form cover to cover numerous times. She loved all kinds of flowers and nature in general. Hazel loved doing puzzle books, eating pizza and drinking the hottest cup of coffee she could find but she especially loved to sit on her porch and watch all the children on the street get off the bus in the afternoons after school. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by a special niece that she raised as her own, Shannon Scism, her sisters; Shirley Bright of Shelby, NC, Lucille Miller and her husband Wayne of Boiling Springs, NC, Ruth Byers of Ellenboro, NC and Geneva Wilson of Ellenboro, NC, special great nieces; Courtney Evans, Hannah Scism and Tyler Harris, many nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and many many more of her babies as she called them.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Fred Hutchins and three sisters; Jean Harris, Murial Talent and Mildred McDaniel.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC. The funeral service will be at 1:00pm in the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC with Reverend Robby Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro, NC. Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC is serving the family.
