Haskell Everette Scott, Sr.

Haskell Everette Scott, Sr., 90 years of age, entered the gates of Heaven, his eternal home, on Friday morning, March 8, 2024.

Born in Anderson, SC, on February 12, 1934, Haskell was the son of the late Olin and Emma Scott. Haskell was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Parham Scott; his twin brother, Hershell; other brothers, Curtis, Raymond, and Gareth and sisters, Louise and Glenna.

Survivors include his children, Autumn (Mike) Wright, Everette (Maria) Scott, Stuart (Susan) Scott, Christie (John) Gifford, and Tina Scott; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Haskell's purpose in life was to serve others. He first chose to serve his country in the Army. He served as a Cryptographer in the Pentagon. He was Honorably Discharged in 1962. While living in Hartwell, Georgia, he owned a dry cleaner and was named MR. CHRISTMAS SPIRIT by the Hart County High School Band for cleaning all the band uniforms for free.  During his years as a licensed Funeral Director and Mortician, he also worked closely with the SC Lions Eye Bank. The Lions Eye Bank presented Haskell their Service Award for three years.  He made a difference in the lives of thousands as he professionally and personally helped individuals and families through some of the most difficult times of their lives as well as being an active participant in Rotary for many years.

Haskell was well known for his jokes and pranks and was the happiest when he made people laugh. Other ways Haskell supported his community was by playing Santa for many years, bringing joy and laughter to residents of the local nursing homes and children in the community.  Haskell smoked hundreds of turkeys throughout the years, sharing them with the less fortunate.

Services will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, at Hampton Heights Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. in Greenville, SC.
