Harold Dean Lawson

Mr. Harold D. Lawson, age 86, loving husband of Bobbie Jean Gossett Lawson went to his Heavenly Home to be with God and family Sunday, November 5, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Lawson was born March 9, 1937, in Union, SC, a son of the late Roy T. Lawson and Pearl M. Lawson.  He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir.  Mr. Lawson retired from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. He was a member of the Union Elks Club, Union Masonic Lodge #75, and a volunteer at Wallace Thomson Hospital.  Mr. Lawson enjoyed traveling.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of sixty-four years are his twin sister, Carol Cookson of Union; brothers-in-law, Albert Gossett and wife, Meredith, of Greenwood, and Guy Copeland of Union; and many special nieces and nephews. Mr. Lawson was predeceased by his parents; seven sisters, Lizzie Mae Crawford, Gladys Boulware, Lena Bobo, Hazel Bobo, Martha Copeland, Myrtle Weaver, and Mildred Lawson; and two brothers, States Lawson and, R.T. Lawson.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey, Rev. Lee Moseley, and Rev. Ralph Brown.

Pallbearers will be Mark Blackwell, Mark Nicholson, Chris Gossett, Bob Wilkins, Donald Ray Bobo, and Gene Bobo.  Honorary pallbearers will be choir members of New Hope United Methodist Church, Union Masonic Lodge #75, James Bates, Dot Smith, Pearl Crocker, and Robbie Littlejohn.  All nieces and nephews are asked to stand together in a group at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at New Hope United Methodist Church from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
