Gladys Beard Hames

Gladys Beard Hames, age 97 of Ellenboro, NC, graduated to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Fair Haven of Forest City, NC. Mrs. Hames was born in Knox County, TN on March 10, 1926 to the late James Lee Beard and the late Bertha Taylor Beard. Mrs. Hames was a member of Goodes Grove Baptist Church, having previously served in various capacities at Cliffside Baptist Church for over fifty years. She retired from G.F. Business Equipment in Forest City, NC and also worked for the Rutherford County Board of Elections for many years. Mrs. Hames will be remembered for her community service as she volunteered for many groups and organizations.

Left to cherish her memory include her son Dennis Hames, special nieces; Kathy H. Causey and Robin H. Jordan and Elaine Beard Metcalf, special neighbors Jason and Lisa Ellison and several more nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Edwin Hames, six brothers; Ralph, Brevard, James, Evert, Grady and Leonard Beard, two sisters; Viola B. Link and Lorene B. Bickett.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on November 11, 2023 at Goodes Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Robby Hensley officiating.
