Geraldine "Geri" Lois Langley

Geraldine "Geri" Lois Verbick Langley, 79, of Campobello, SC, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Geri was born April 10, 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Jennie Klesnick Verbick and Frank Verbick. She was a member of the Gramling Methodist Church. She earned an undergraduate degree from The Ohio University in 1967 and a Master's degree in Psychology and English from the University of Bridgeport in 1971, both on full scholarship. She worked as a high school English teacher and a Guidance Counselor for many years before becoming a professional dog groomer. She owned and operated Dapper Dogs first in Arden, NC, and then in Inman, SC. Prior to this while living in Connecticut, she was an Aviculturist, raising African Grey Parrots, Lovebirds, and Senegal Parrots. Geri was an accomplished Aviculturist and had numerous articles published in bird magazines. She was wonderful with all animals, especially with those she rescued and was often referred to as an "animal whisperer". Geri cared about her community and had deep respect for the environment. She had a love of gardening, was known for having a green thumb, and took great joy in the simplicity of a flower blooming. Throughout her life she kept a childlike wonder about her and something as simple as a train whistle blowing would cause her to giggle, and the Christmas season was always her favorite time. She had a passion for reading, especially mysteries, and holds the unofficial record for the most books read from the Landrum Library. She will be remembered as a graceful, gracious, and dignified lady that followed the rules of proper etiquette, always taking the time to pen a letter or send a card, and seeing the best in someone and working to bring that out in them. Geri worked to cultivate and foster long term relationships and in turn was loved and cared for by her friends until she went to be with the Lord.

Left to cherish her memory are long time friends, Cheri Euton of Lawrenceville, GA, Gina Davis and Betty B Braghirol, both of Inman, Donna Presnell, friend for over forty years of New Haven, Connecticut,, and the members of the original "TBV Girls Club" from fifth grade of which she was a proud and loved member; pastor and friend, Rev. Rick Brown; and her two fur babies, Holden and Torrie.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her stepmother, Francis Langley, and a beloved aunt, uncle and cousin.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
