Gary Ray Dickey

Gary R. Dickey moved from this earth on June 23, 2026. Born on July 25, 1948, to Ray and Louise Gardner Dickey, Gary lived a life defined by intelligence, a strong work ethic, a generous spirit, and boundless love. His tenacity and strength throughout his final years were a true testament to his inner strength and character.

Gary and his beloved wife, Jayne, were affectionately known as Poppa and Grammy to 12 grandsons, two granddaughters, and seven great-grandchildren and all their friends. They opened their hearts and home to everyone, and Gary's famous spaghetti recipe will live on through the generations he shared it with.

A man who deepened his faith, Gary read the Bible in its entirety twice. He cherished the "Back Porch Church," a group of praying friends who met monthly for years. He also found great joy (and sadness) on the golf course and cheering for his Gamecocks, maintaining a humorous rivalry with Jayne, who supports her Tigers.

After graduating from USC, Gary spent his entire career with Milliken, where he deeply valued his colleagues. He and Jayne were blessed to travel together, relishing different cultures. Gary especially loved sunsets, summers by the ocean, and his loyal sidekick Goldendoodle, Charlie. Their golf cart rides were legendary.

He is survived and forever missed by his sons Kevin (Toni), Cameron (Amy), and by marriage:  his son Jeff Jones (Angela); and daughter Kelly Jones Bridges (Dean); his sister Debby Hudson (Paul); and a large, loving extended family.

Gary's wish was for us to celebrate his life with smiles. We'll smile through our tears. Heartfelt gratitude to grandson, Bradley Bridges, who more than once put his dreams on hold, and devotedly cared for Poppa and kept him supplied with his favorite strawberry milkshakes.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 28, 2026, in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs, with Rev. Dr. Mike Hamlet, Rev. Foster Bridges, Bradley Bridges, and Erinn Bridges, officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Blake Dickey, Chandler Dickey, Peyton Dickey, Austin Bridges, Daniel Bridges, Harrison Bridges, Houston Jones, and Colton Jones.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
